IT'S A REST DAY: Should you carry gear in your jersey pockets or in a lumbar pack ("fanny pack")? Jersey pockets are more accessible while you're riding. Lumbar packs generally provide more capacity, but the waist belt can bind on your stomach while you're in the cycling position. In either case, don't carry too much weight on your body. If you have to tote over a pound or two, it's more comfortable to carry it on the bike in a seat bag or in a pack that sits on a rack mounted above the rear wheel.
