IT'S A REST DAY: Cycling shoes designed for road use have slick soles that are difficult to walk around in. Mountain bike shoes are often a better choice for multi-day tours where you'll be walking at rest stops and at scenic attractions. They have lugged soles that surround the cleat so walking is easy and quiet --no tapping sounds as you stroll through the convenience store (and less wear and tear on the cleats, too!)
