Tip of the Day:
All too often, WARMING UP and COOLING DOWN are neglected in favor of going from lying on the couch to an all-out sprint. Although they might not seem like necessary components of your workouts, allowing your body to adjust from being stationary to exercising goes a long way towards preventing injury. Warming up before a workout moves that blood out to your extremities to accommodate their newfound oxygen demand. Cooling down operates the same process in reverse. It's just like driving a car. If you go from first gear to fifth in one motion, you end up leaving your transmission on the pavement. Giving your body time to adjust allows it to prepare the muscles and lungs for activity; so take that extra 5 minutes before and after exercising to insure a lifetime of happy trails.
