Day 030 - Technique for jumps

45-minute ride at RPE 6, including 3 jumps        Training via ActiveMail

RIDE 45 MINUTES AT RPE 6, INCLUDING 3 JUMPS: When you perform your three accelerations out of the saddle, think about how to stand up smoothly. Grasp the handlebars firmly but with a relaxed grip. Be aware of when one pedal begins its upward movement from the rear. When the pedal nears the top, transfer your weight to that foot, stand smoothly, and ride the pedal on its downward arc, letting your body weight push it down. As you push down with your foot, pull up gently with the hand on that side. So if you initiate your move out of the saddle on your right foot and pedal, pull up with the right hand to counteract the tendency of the bike to tip to the right side.
