RIDE FOR ONE HOUR AT RPE 6 AND INCLUDE FIVE HILLS AT RPE 7 TO 9: Today, work on "finishing the hill." During most of the climb, stay in the saddle and spin at a slightly easier gear than normal. With about 200 yards remaining to the top, shift to a bigger gear, get out of the saddle, and go hard. Don't slow abruptly at the summit -- instead, keep the pressure on over the top and for another 100 yards. This drill builds power and the positive psychology to finish climbs strongly.
