Frisbee Speed Golf

You all know the game; this is just a variation that doesn’t require clubs, lots of green space, greens fees or 3 hours of your day. Get a Frisbee, a friend or three, and head outdoors. Same objective as the ball and stick variety except your “hole” will be some distant object like a tree, fire hydrant, parking meter or sign and your score is a combination of strokes and time (the faster the better).

For: All Athletes.
Time: Variable, depends on the number of holes.
Description: A twist on the game, grab a frisbee, pick out your holes and get going, the object is to shoot low and go fast.
Equipment needed: Frisbee.

The protocol:
  1. Tee off from where you are standing, driving your disc toward the hole.
  2. Instead of standing there admiring your throw and discussing the finer points of the game, run after flying disc—this is speed golf after all.
  3. Stop only long enough to aim and toss your next shot.
  4. When your disc hits the hole, preferably in three to five strokes, then you can take a short break (which can also serve as time to figure out where the next hole should be), but don’t dawdle; you want to get a workout.

The number of holes is limited primarily by the amount of time that you have and can easily be modified each time you play. Be careful though, like the more traditional game, this one can be addictive. Your group may begin to establish a “permanent” course, keeping score, and competing against each other.
