I am trying to tone my lower body, especially my thighs. I am a pear shaped person, I know walking helps, but does cycling help or does it do the opposite.

Any cardio exercise helps burn fat, and fat is burned from all over the body (you cannot target a specific area to lose fat). Cycling will help tone the leg muscles though, as does walking, rollerblading, trikking, and other exercises. You can also look up "thigh exercises" online and find many things you can do to tone/firm those muscles...in addition to your cardio for fat burning.

Cycling will absolutely help that is a great exercising for losing weight. Understand though you can't spot lose weight it will be an all over body thing. As long as your diet is good you will be seeing results in no time. Also take a picture of yourself today and look at that picture at the end of each week and you will be able to see the results better.Keep up the good work!!

Like the others said, you can't spot-train, meaning you can't only lose weight in one spot. So any kind of cardio will burn fat all over and eventually reduce the amount of fat on your thighs. One other point though - if you do something like cycling that works your legs, you are building muscles in your legs. If you build muscles faster than you lose weight, your legs will temporarily get bigger. But don't get discouraged, soon they will start to get more toned. Keep at it!
