Does riding a bike make you lose weight, and if so how much do you have to do to burn a significant amount of calories? Does it make you lose weight or just tone you?

Cycling is an excellent form of aerobic exercise. It will help you lose weight and tone up. I works your lower body as well as your back and ab muscles. It just won't do a lot to tone up your arms and chest muscles. To get a good workout, it is the same as any other workout, minimum of 30 min a day 4 days a week.

It burns calories, and if you are eating only the calories your body needs in a day, than the extra calories you burn will make you lose weight. As far as how many calories you burn, it really depends on your current weight, the bicycle, the terrain, etc. Hard to give you an exact amount, but it is great exercise. Running at a good pace will still burn quite a few more calories though. Also, it will tone your legs mostly, as well as your butt and part of your abs.

It's among the best forms of exercise. Bicycle a couple of miles every day and you will live forever.
