Does it really matter what kind of exercise equipment you use, as long as it gets your heart rate up?

I'm a member at a gym and they have really nice equipment, but obviously I can't afford that kind of machine. But I found an elliptical at a garage sale (which is the only thing I use at the gym) for $40, even though it isn't as sturdy and nice as the gym one. But I bought a heart rate monitor watch, and tested at home and at the gym, and it works my heart just as good. So if I leave the gym and only use this one at home, will the exercise be just as effective? I would assume it would be just as good, but thought I'd ask before I got rid of my gym membership.

Your membership allows you to use other equipment, but regardless of that, if you have an elliptical at home and it works, then you do not need your membership. It does the same thing, it is the same piece of machinery without the bells and whistles.Get on it and cancel that membership, unless you plan on using more of the gym equipment.Al http://phoenixbodystyling.blogspot.com/

The cardio workout will be the same, but you won't be able to target specific muscle groups. If you're just trying to be healthy, go for it.
