So, my friend and I are in High School, lifting over the summer to get ready for next year. He's tall, about 6'2.5, and I'm much shorter at 5'10. Here's the thing, he's pretty thin, and stringy. I've got much nicer looking arms muscles. Even so, he seems to be able to lift more than me, in everything but leg exercises.... WTF?The guy seriously doesn't look strong, but he can lift more than me, and i've actually got muscles? How can this happen?

Because he has more natural strength, i'm his size, but I also work out at the gym. It's just that he has more natural strenth plain and simple.

I'm the exact same as your friend, oddly enough. But when I beat my friends who look stronger at me in lifting and arm wrestling, they get confused but body mass has nothing to do with it, neither does looks, natural strength I guess

Well thats sorta the same with me. Im not very tall and im not muscular, but im like the 4th strongest kid at my school. I can lift more than everyone but 2 people in my class. Looks dont have anything to do with lifting, its technique

Strength comes from breaking down muscle and building it back up. My guess he has been on a weight program longer than you, or has done some kind of work that required lifting. Lets put it this way, swimmers have great physiques but are softees when they get in the weight room. As opposed to a wrestler that may not be cut to shreds and have beast like strength.

He must have more lean muscle mass which would not be bulky

It could be either A: Lean muscle or B: His genetics, meaning he might just be naturally stronger than others.

That body type might not have as nice a look for the ladies, but the string bean muscle which is there seems to be more eficient than expected.I rather look good for the Ladies, like you do! : - )Don't sweat it Dude! yur priorities are good! |

this will give you a good idea of how to size yourself up in a fight. If a dude looks bigger than you, it don't me crap. Were you just doing reps, not weight? If so, you're all size and low strength.
