I am unfit. I am 29year old male 30lbs overweight. During a game of indoor football my heart rate is very high between 160-190bpm.According to my polar heart rate monitor, the summary at the end of the 60mins football showed my average heart rate as 171 and its fastest point it was over 220bpm (although this was maybe only for a few seconds...)Is this good? Or Dangerous?

It's the recovery time that is the important factor. After approx 5 mins. your heart rate should be back down to about 70 BPM. If it take a lot longer than this ie 20 mins. See the doc. Get a medical anyway, put your mind at rest,or at least give you some idea of your true health state.

There are a few things to think about with your heart rate. The maximum heart rate you should have is something like 220 less your age - 191 in your case. For general cardiovascular training and exercise you should be looking at an average heart rate of aroung 70% of that - about 140 BPM (this was from a quick internet seach). Having said that you wernt doing a cardio exercise, you were competing in a game of football and of course your Heart rate will be higher becaue of that. The 220bpm could be a bit high.
