try this ideal weight calculator, based on age, gender and height. It gives you the per cent of people heavier than you, too. And shows you how you compare to others: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm

Anywhere from 140-150 would be a pretty healthy weight for you. That's great that you're trying to be healthier!

I'm presuming you're male if you're over 6' tall. And at your height, let's say you're 6' 1"? I'd say 185 to 205 if you've got a good amount of muscle on you.But as for your workout program, cardio is only going to get you so far. The old "do 30 minutes of cardio a day" is going to get you good at one thing: Using energy efficiently. In other words, the more you do of it, the less energy your body will need to do do things (including daily tasks). What I'd suggest is getting on a high intensity training program. There's plenty that can be had for free (Crossfit being the best one I know of). And follow their nutrition guidelines as well.Depending on how strong you are, you may be well served to start off with at least a month or two of solid basic barbell training (look up Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength program), and from there progress into the Crossfit program. The starting strength will take your excess fat youv'e got stored now and generate muscle mass and strength from it. The more muscle you have, the more energy your body burns (even at rest). And the Crossfit program will make you look like a stud in no time, if you work hard that is.
