Yoga tends to relax your mind and gets you to focus on something in particular, aswell as doing exercise, and it's more slow and peaceful.Pilates is more about exercise and fitness, it is similar but different as it's not as relaxing.I would recommend Yoga after your transplant, as if you do too much then it might cause stress where the transplant was. So try Yoga.

Both are good but I prefer Pilates as it is designed to work your core (ABS). It helps with breathing, alignment and strengthens and tones the body promoting general well being.

Yoga. Its not only a form of exercise, improved flexibility , it also relax your mind and improved your spiritual health.

I have done yoga and find it so revitalising for the mind and body. After every class you feel so relaxed and refreshed it's a fantastic way of exercise! There is not a massive difference between the two but yoga I know is more relaxing and gentle on the body. So perhaps yoga would be the first thing to try for you after your transplant. If you fancy a change after a while then try pilates later on.Best of luckxx

Yoga is a more than just exercise, it has its roots in breathing, relaxing, stretching and concentration - thus it can become more a life style. Pilates is excellent as a non weight bearing, muscle strengthening exercise and does promote all round fitness. In your position I would opt for the yoga and start with simple exercises, maybe try to take on some meditation for inner strength as well. Good luck with whatever you decide - as I say both are very good.

There are so many levels with yoga. You need to try the basic which is Hatha Yoga. This is simply very slow stretching movements. Leave pilates for a year at least.

Well, I do pilates and it is extremely hard so it think it might be stressful on your body but I do a "pilates intensive" so I'm not sure how hard normal pilates is. I used to do yoga and it was very relaxing but still gave a still exercise. What I think would be best for you is yogalates (I don't know if I spelled that right but it's a mix of it) There are a lot of yogalates classes out there now so it shouldn't be too hard to find. Good luck!

Hi Lollipop, I am a nurse so both my colleagues and I suffer from back problems. I would recommend Pilates first, as it is a more gentle approach. When you get better you can always try yoga. Good luck and get well soonForgot to tell you I have arthritis and it is OK for me.
