i broke my finger five weeks ago. right on the joint of middle finger. i went to the hospital and it was in buddy tape for four weeks. iwent back last week and he told me the break had healed at to start trying to bend it.there's a lot of excess bone (healing bone?) around the joint.however i just cant seem to make a contractionit will bend to a certain extent but only very minimally like, 30 degrees or something. nowhere near full flexibilty/is there any exercises to do to try and fix this???

Sometimes the calcium bolus that forms around a break can make healing of a joint with restoration of full range of motion less likely. Also if you damaged or tore the flexor tendon, then it will be less likely to get full range of motion. You could see a hand orthopedic surgeon and get a specialist opinion, but sometimes they say to operate and "fix" a torn tendon can make the healed "bump" larger instead of smaller. (I tore and extensor tendon in karate when someone kicked it and it doesn't go as straight as it used to and that is what a hand specialist told me.)

your bone is not yet completely healed, it is just starting to heal.. just keep on doing what you're currently doing with it cause forcing it to bend might break it--again..

keep trying to bend it... Dont force it too much but keep trying. It may hurt for a little bit. If it continues to hurt and you cant bend it much more, go back to your doctor. You may have a lot of scar tissue and fluid around the joint.
