| for six miles each time. I walk at a high incline at about 3 and half miles per hour. I have horrific blisters on my feet, usually on the inside of the heels. Could there be an issue with the way I walk (gait) or should I be replacing my shoes every 6-8 weeks? Anyone else have this issue? I have spent hundreds of dollars on everything from adidas to nike shox to no avail.. should I be heading to the podiatrist? |

| You're walking too much, first off. Keep it to 30 mins a day. Ramp up the fat burn by doing sprints (for example):10 second sprint + 1 minute jog/walkRepeat for 30 mins. (There are other variations, but this is the one I use.)Then get off the t-mill. After 30 mins, you're not doing yourself any good, and you'll start burning off MUSCLE instead of fat, which is BAD. | The blisters are caused when the feet sweat and soak the socks making the skin soft. Try using foot powder and/or some inserts that will absorb some of the sweat. If that fails, search for a show that lets your feet breath well. From the sounds of it, you just have tender feet, not a bad thing, and this should help out until they toughen up a bit from the walking and it's a lot cheaper then new shoes every couple of months. You also may be wearing shoes that are a bit too large. The should be snug without cramping your toes up. Any slip in the back when you walk is too much. Try a slightly smaller size.Lastly, I have to agree about the time you spend on there. While wind sprints are good for building your lungs, you need to keep your heart in your target zone for at least 30 mins, preferably 45, to do your heart any good but if your going over an hour you would be better off to increase your pace or the incline a bit. You'll get a better workout in less the time.BEST OF LUCK. |
