| I'm just wondering, for the sake of knowing, what happens when you get to 100% of your heart rate? When working out, a heart rate monitor tells you your current heart rate and percentage of max, mine is around 180 max. Are there health consequences for reaching 100% heart rate? |

| The max heart rate is actually calculating your 'max' heart rate for proper exercise. You should maintain 50-85% of your 'max' heart rate for proper fitness conditioning. If you reach your 'max' rate then your heart is beating too fast for proper oxygenation thru your pulmonary system and if you were to maintain your maximum heart rate for too long, you would become mildly hypoxic and become fatigued and unable to maintain the exercise. |
