I used to have an elliptical, and now I have a treadmill. I always feel more active now running on the treadmill. It also burns more calories quicker, I think.

Definately trehe treaddmill. Always the treadmill. It works you more, because it makes you work more, It's better for your joints because it absorbs the shock of you running, whearas the elliptical is known to cause bad joint. You burn more on the treadmill. The treadmill works your muscle & cardio.Hope this helps :]

It is a matter of personal choice. Do you have good knees? If so I personaly like the treadmill. I switch off on weekends and run bleachers as well. The elliptical is more of a fluid motion machine, exellent for people with joint issues. The treadmill will burn more calories in a shorter time due to the fact that you must push yourself off the belt, where as the elliptical uses your hands and momentum. Both burn calories and are great ways to get in shape. One word of suggestion- make sure if you get an elliptical it has an ajustable stride.

Fitness professionals will tell you: the treadmill will wreck your legs. Please use the elliptical - it's just as a effective (if not more effective). You're moving your arms as well, which contributes to the effectiveness of the workout. Overall, I'd choose the elliptical over treadmill anyday (and possibly turndown the treadmill altogether)

Treadmill, for all the reasons stated already, and for increase circulation. When on the elliptical, your feet are sort of stationary, and that can't be good. Sadly, I bought a Gazella once, and I remember on the workout DVD the guy said it was very important to be concious of lifting your heels up to promote circulation. While I am not an expert in the medical field, I do know that working muscles call out for increased blood flow/oxygen so it would make since to use a machine that supports proper circulation (and simulates a a more natural motion).
