Is India totally geared up to find out solar energy to modify motorbikes to run on solar power? India is blessed with abundant solar power. Private companies should come foward to substitute solar energy for petrol energy.

It is not impossible to make a solar panel power an electric engine, however there are two drawbacks on a motorcycle, one you need a large surface area for the panels (which motorcycles are designed not to have) and two electric engines like to be either on or off, the acceleration and braking phases are difficult to resolve.

Figure that a 75watt solar panel is about 47" L x 21-1/2" W x 1-3/8" thick; Weight: 20.2 lbs. The cheapest I have see one of these is about $500.You will need a minimum of about about 35 of these panels to make enough power to maintain highway speed. 35 panels will give you about 150 amps of power. About the same amount of power used by an automotive engine starter. On a trailer behind your bike you will need to drag about 35 of these panels behind you. The panels alone will weigh about 700 pounds + the weight of your trailer. Oops, with all this weight, you are going to need more panels. Figure on about $17,500 for your 35 solar panels. And did I mention that electrical solar panels degrade over time. So they will need to be replaced occasionally. You could get buy with a battery powered motorbike and recharge using solar panels. You would only need about 3 of these 75 watt solar panels to achieve 13 amps. Cost of the solar panels will be about $1500.A battery powered motorcycle will have a limited range. If you have a stretch of cloudy days, you may not generate enough power to ride your bike.
