I am trying to lose some weight. I really love yoga, but am afraid I am not going to achieve my weight loss goals by doing yoga alone. I have heard good things about pilates...but am not sure which DVDs to buy...? Also, is it still possible for me to lose weight if I don't do cardio type exercises and just stick to yoga and pilates? I am on a very strict diet, too...only healthy foods for me! Thanks for the answers!

I have always loved Yoga and Pilates. I bought a Winsor-Pilates DVD before and after a month of doing them, lost 10 pounds. Pilates involves alot of exercises that not only tone, but burn fat. Yoga is more about stretching and flexibility, where as Pilates can put more strain on your muscles and is more fast-paced.Im sure if you add in the pilates to your routine, you'll notice a difference. Also, with the cardio thing... my friend who had a baby a year ago was doing cardio non-stop after the baby and it did NOTHING, as soon as she started doing pilates, she lost all the weight.Good Luck~

Yoga and pilates are great for strength and flexibility, but don't burn calories like more vigorous cardio. If you are sticking to your diet, then be patient. Its not healthy to lose more than a pound or two a week.

you can combine all of them no because you like one doesn't mean the others wont work. You can dedicate one or 2 days to yoga and the same fro pilates and cardio adn you will see results even faster

Well both can help you maintain any new found weight loss. But most yoga forms will probably not help you much in losing weight. Pilate on the other hand could be of benefit also in losing weight. If you are looking for faster weight loss you will need to add strength training. Pilate do involve resistance and thats why i would prefer them to yoga.Read the articles below for more... http://www.health-emark.com/weight-loss-yoga.html http://www.health-emark.com/weight-loss-pilates.html
