I am short and a little stubby, although i am a little overweight. I am going to the gym three times a week and for about an hour and a half. I use the eliptical trainer for 20 minutes, warming up at 3-4 on the first three minutes, and then changing every five minutes from 4 to 7(incline, resistance). Then i jog on the treadmill starting at 3.3 and changing every three minute incriments from 3.3 to 3.9 or 4.1. Then I do 30 crunches on the ball...... am i doing to little to lose weight? we have those cycling bikes too, but they look so intimidating! I basically eat nothing really big all day and dinner before seven o clock. Also, whats a good workout you do similar to mine, any experiences.......( don't forget, i'm not iron man!). And we don't have a pool at the gym (wish we did though) thanks

You should also incorporate some weight lifting into your regiment, as it will increase metabolism and help to burn off fat. When you do weights, you should use as much weight as possible so that you are struggling by the time you get to about 12 reps. Then rest and repeat two more sets. Make sure you eat enough.

The cardio workout you do is good. I do the Les Mills style cycle classes. These go for 45 mins - 1 hour and are performed as interval training... they really burn the calories. You might benefit from doing some weight lifting frmo time to time. It will tone your underlying muscles and that also helps burn fat. Most people make the mistake of not eating... i.e. diet = no food. This is just wrong. If you do not eat, your body goes into shock and retains fat automatically. It depletes muscle in order to retain fat. You need to eat something every 3 hours... not a lot.. just enough. Portion size is the trick to learn. You need ot eat protein and fat and carbs. But dont eat carbs unless you eat protein. Eat good fat.. like avocado and nuts. Lay off the sugar.. so no soda and so on. Eat fruit, fresh vegetables and lean meats (grilled in a George Foreman for example).
