Does the saying "If you lose weight quickly, you'll gain it back quickly" work in reverse?

I weighed 124lbs last month, was following a healthy diet and went to the gym daily. I am an emotional eater and after having a few rough patchs a couple weeks ago I quit the gym altogether and have pretty much been on a straight binge for the past 4 weeks. Not only did I get my diet off track but i would have pizza, fries, cheeseburgers, cheescake, multiple bags of chips and choclate bars EVERY day. The combination of quitting the gym and eating terribly for the past 4 weeks has led to a 12 pound weight gain!! I weighed in at 136 lbs today. I knew i couldn;t continue on in my unhealthy ways and seeing that i had managed to gain 12 pounds shocked me into deciding im going to start fresh tomorrow. Seeing as I gained this weight sooo quickly will it be easy for me to lose it just as quickly? I plan on going back to my "pre-binge month" diet and going to the gym for 2 hours a day every day. How long do you think it will take to get back to 124lbs if I stick with this?

hahai dont think so... maybeThe best way to lose weight/tone up /get in shape or get fitter is cardio cardio cardio! Running, walking, jogging, stationary bike, stepper, cross trainer – anything that gets your heart rate up will burn calories and tone fatGetting your heart rate up is the best thing you do for your body. Eating right also plays a large role, bigger than you might realize. You can exercise every day for the rest of your life but if you put crap like mcdonalds or kfc or everything else oily and greasy and sugary that you know is bad for you in your body nothing will change. So up up up the fruit and veggies and eat one carb based meal a day ie pasta, sandwhich, potatoes. So if you have a sandwhich for lunch don’t have pasta for dinner. Also up the lean meats, fish & chicken and eggs. After cardio is the best time to do lunges, squats and crunches. They are more effective when combined with cardio. Actually pay attention to that! Its called spot reducing when you focus on one area and it aint gonna happen! You cant choose where you put on weight and you cannot choose where you loose it from! doing situps and crunches are great but wont work anywhere near as well as when teamed with cardio. you cannot choose where you lose weight - your body will take it where it wants to, store it where it wants to - focusing on one area is silly, it wont work. I know all of us want to eat what we want and sit on our asses all day but it aint gonna happen. try to eat six or five small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. This makes your body think you are going to feed it regularly and therefore thinks it needs to burn quicker. You have to do this every day though, not every second day, your body needs to get used to it. The worse thing you can do is starve yourself or cut down to two meals or one meal a day. Your body thinks it being starved and therefore stores all your fat and all the calories and carbs and turns that into fat instead of burning it and then you stuff your metabolism up and it'll never be the same. Even if you only eat one apple a day, nothing else, your body will store that apple as fat – so its doing the opposite to what you think its doing. This is why it is unhealthy. The thing is to still lower your calories by eating fruit and veg and other good stuff but not starving yourself. Hope this has helped! It’s all common sense – eating right & burning it off! The best thing about exercise is once you get going and speed your metabolism up it stays fast and burns calories when you aren’t doing anything! Also remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so don’t get discouraged when you look at the scales, instead, watch your body reform & change and watch the clothes fall off =]

hey girl..well i've totally been in your situation before, so i think i can help.i did the exact same thing. i've always been on the skinny side but then when i stopped all my exercise and sat at home all day eating JUNK i gained SOO much weight..but to answer your question, NO. just because you gained the weight fast does not mean that you will loose it fast. and that's the sucky part. however, like you said, if you starve yourself or do whatever to loose the weight fast then once you start eating like normal again you will gain the weight fast.....it all sucks. so pretty much the solution is to keep a CONSTANT healthy diet and exercise plan.just try and eat about 5 or 6 small healthy meals a day and stay away from heavy, oily, or unhealthy foods. don't totally cut out sweets and stuff though, it wont work, trust me. us girls need our sweets haha you will just get frustrated and give up. so you have to give yourself SOME sweets or whatever your weekness is, just do it generously, and not often.if you stay on a very healthy diet--LOTS OF VEGETABLES, and some fruits too. and you exercise 4-5 days a week for atleast an hour, i would say you could looks the weight in 4 to 5 weeks. GOOD LUCK!
