I have the type of bike with the movable handle bars that works the upper part of the body as well as the cycling working the bottom part of the body.I have read all over that you should subtract half of what the bike says I burn but those are just with the regular stationary bikes with the handle bars that don't move.I have to think that with working the arms & legs I am burning more calories. I don't believe that I am burning all of what the scanner tells me but I kind of believe that I am burning more than the information is telling me online.Does anyone know for sure?

The answer is nobody knows for sure. The calories you are burning are based on several factors to include age, weight, and gender. Using the arms might add 200 calories in an hour. MIGHTYou can better get an estimate based on your cardio level. Say you are working with you heart rate at 150 for 1 hour. That is about 1000 calories an hour, according to the machine.

http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/publish/calories.shtml http://au.answers.yahoo.com/answers2/frontend.php/question?qid=2007092 4062748AAnHMSNThere is another yahoo answers one that i thought might help.Ahh so you have the ones you find in Gyms? Well if its antything like ive heard, you could be burning up to or over 900 calories an hour. This type of machine works about 6 core muscle groups, the thighs, back, chest, abs, arms, butt etc. If you ask me its probably one of the best exercise equipment you can get.

Try not to think of it mathematically! I got the best piece of fitness information from the back of a bag of baked Cheetos:"Fitness is a journey, not a destination." I guarantee if you stay on that bike as long as you can, you will reach your goal. If you reach your goal and get off that bike though. You will regress back to what you started with! Ya know?
