I've been diagnosed with a heart disease where I'm not allowed to get my heart rate too high anymore Is it still possible to get/stay in shape when with yoga/pilates/something where my heart rate is low? Thanks |

| Ohh yes definetly, Yoga and Pilates, eat very healthy and do Weights as well just don't work them to the point your heart rate gets high. |

| It definately can help... it's not really something which will give you dramatic / quick weight loss -- but it's good for long term benefits (especially when coupled with a good diet) |

| Yes, yoga is great for a number of things, strength, flexibility, tone, etc. Start with a good book or video in the comfort of your own home before you try a class. |

| I just read an article from Yoga Journal's October 2002 issue (just catching up on my reading!) called "Can Yoga Make You Fit?" They tested 3 yogis for strength, endurance, flexibility, and lung capacity. Their finding was that regular yoga practices which included a balance of poses that builds strength, stamina, and meditation, can produce good results in their test areas. However, you need to do it "more than 15 minutes 3-4 times a week." While it didn't say exactly what is the right amount, it did recommend a good, regular intense workout. Along those lines, I started doing 1/2 hour yoga 5x a week or so a few months ago, and I have lost about 15 pounds and I feel more in shape now.. |
