I need some help deciding wether I should do pilates or go to the gym. I need a workout that will give me a really long and lean body. I really don't want to bulk up or have really big muscles. I need something that is meant to tone a woman's body. I've heard that pilates and yoga lenghten you out and give you a really lean body. However, I have also wanted to try goingt to the gym. I need to know which is better for losing weight quickly and giving me a really long lean body. I'm planing on losing 10-15lbs in 3 months. What do you think I would probably enjoy more? Can anyone recommend pilate studios or gyms for teens in Toronto?

Although Pilates and Yoga will give you the leaner, longer body you want, weight lifting and aerobics will help you lose weight faster. If you join a gym, though, you should have access to both. Good luck! And have fun! Yoga is the ___!

Actually a combination of both would be the ideal workout but if you have to chose then definitely the pilates because it gives you cardio along with some resistance training.

Pilates will tone you more than help you lose weight. The gym is where it's at.

I'll recommend you do both. Pilates is nice but if you want to lose 10-15 lbs in 3 months, you need to sweat. That means hitting the cardiovascular machines (elliptical machine, bike, treadmill, etc.). If you do that 4x a week and Pilates 2x a week, you'll be in great shape after 3 months. If you have to choose one or another, do the gym. Focus on the cardiovascular and use the machines for lifting and dumbbells. Think low weight, high reps.
