I have been running/walking in intervals (run for 5 minutes, then walk for 5) because i am trying to lose weight, and it's working. I have bad shin splints and knee pain because i have been running on a sidewalk (the only availible terrain for me), but i am afraid if i switch to just walking, i'll stop losing weight. Can i go the same distance i have been or even a little more with just walking and continue to lose weight?

OUCHHHH!!!... do NOT run if you have shin splints!... You are only doing an extreme amount of damage to your shins.. and also if you have knee pain running is definitely not something you should be doing right now. You really need to stop running for a while until your shins are better... have you ever played school sports?.. If you have shin splints they don't even let you practice, let alone run. If you really can't stand to not run, try the elliptical for now or the stationary bike... your really doing some severe damage to your legs.. and you're going to end up regretting it.

stop jogging until your pain ceases. u must keep walking-it works-although it's not as effecient in dropping weight as running is. if ur new to running it will take several months for ur legs to be able to handle the stress on ur bones and joints. think longevity-lifestyle change-don't expect great results fast. steady does it brother!
