|
|
I've recently started working out daily (cardio, yoga, or pilates) because my weight has started to creep up, and I have gone from about 124 lbs to 130 in about a week and a half! I'm huge!Yes, working out makes me more hungry, but I haven't been eating thaat much more than normal. This is the most I have ever weighed and none of my pants fit. I am really alarmed-- what's going on?! How can I stop this?I would much rather go back to being skinny-fat than being bulky.(I am 22 and 5'1)

Same thing is happenening to me. I went to the doctor, and he said I'm gaining muscle mass, which is good. You're supposed to focus on how many inches you lose, and not on how many pounds you lose.

Muscle weighs more than fat. Do you look leaner?

relax. If that is all you are doing you will be losing calories but not enough you would need to scale back on food. If you would do 30min at least in cardio and the weights and you eat the same you would be gaining weight but it would actually be muscle and you will be thinner. Cut back on sugar, red meat, pop, butter etc. you will see a big difference

im sure its just water weight, you cant gain 6lb in a week unless your doin some serious competition eating. back off on the high sodium foods and drink plenty of water and keep exercising. youll loose the water weight. the kind of exercise your doing wont make you bulky.

You are eating too much. Working out will not make you put on weight like that. It's very common for people to overeat when they start exercising.Edit: If your pants aren't fitting then you are gaining inches, you are not getting leaner.

You may be doing the wrong type of exercise for what you are trying to do. Cardio work outs build muscle which weighs more than fat. My suggestion is to keep working out and don't check the scale for a month. I know it's hard to do but by a month your body will get used to building muscle and it will start speeding your metabolism up which then in turn you will start losing weight. If you can't wait a month to see how you are doing get one of those scales that seperate muscle and fat and tells you how much you have of each. Good luck in reaching your goal. God bless.

One problem is that cardio at a steady place doesn't really do much for your metabolism. Try doing interval training (sprint for 2 min, jog for 30 sec, sprint for 2, jog for 30) for 20-30 minutes every other day. Combine that with moderate weight training (body weight is fine) and you'll start producing lean muscle. Also, in terms of food, eat in small portions over the course of the day. You're goal should be 6 meals each with 300ish calories per serving (more for the majour ones, but should average out). protein rich, carb low food is ideal and lots of vegetables. Now, I didn't say no carbs, just enough to keep you going. And take pictures! It's much easier to tell if you're improving visibly instead of some arbitrary number on a scale.
