Okay so last year around June i was 5'3 and 152 lbs, by the end of the summer I dropped to 143, I realised that the probability of losing more weight was likely, since september my weight has been up and down, i currently at this moment weight 132 During the last 2-3 weeks I have been doing step aerobics for around 80 minutes, last week i dropped to 130, and i was relieved that this plan was working because you are supposed to be losing 1-2 pounds per week. But this week I noticed that my weight went up to 132...and I was NOT happy at all..I was on a 1200 cal diet, but i burnt off around 600 cals a day, actually i'm not even sure how much i burnt off but i'm just guessing. So people have been telling me that I am just gaining muscle and that i need to up my calorie intake, i plan on lowring excercise to 60 and upping my cals, so i can get down to 115, even tho i should be "ignoring the scale", do you think i can get to 115 by may? btw i weigh myself everyday!BAD HABIT, I KNOW!i want to look slimmer, lose weight i wouldnt mind SOME muscle but i want to lost 20 pounds...

If you do hardcore workouts you gain weight from muscles, if you get a work out but not too intense, you just burn fat.

If you're intending to body building. You shouldn't be that concerned about losing weight.Muscles are denser than fat.

I weigh myself everyday too, when I should really do it every week. Today I weighed a bit extra from what I weighed yesterday. I think it is just muscle though. Don't freak out if you weigh two more pounds than usual. 10 pounds i could understand. It should be easy to get that 2 pounds off. Walking?I think you could get to very close to being 115lbs by May.

Your weight can actually change by 5-10 lbs just from retaining water. Also, certain foods may make your weight 1-2 lbs different- for example, if you have eaten salty foods you will weight more, if you drink alcohol you may weigh less. Also, weighing yourself right after a work out or meals may alter the scale. The best time of day to weigh yourself is in the mornings. Also, if you are exercising for 80 minutes it becomes anaerobic and your body is going to burn muscle for it's energy source. Try splitting up your routine into two 30 minute work-outs everyday if you can. You also need to make sure you are eating enough to fuel yourself-- and if you aren't getting enough calories everyday your body will go into "Starvation mode" and you will stop gaining weight. Try going to caloriesperhour.com. They have fantastic resources on finding out how many calories you burn per hour for each activity, food calories, and several other calculators to assist with weight loss.Weighing yourself daily can actually help you keep your weight off, because when you notice the scale going up you begin to be more disciplined :)And yes, I think you have a very realistic goal of losing 15 lbs in the next 3 months.Good luck!

There's nothing wrong with weighing yourself every day. But do it properly. Weigh yourself first thing in the morning, before you eat or drink anything, after you go to the bathroom, in the nude. That's your true weight. In order to MAINTAIN your weight, you eat your weight X15. So if you weigh 130, you will maintain that weight by eating 130X15=1950 calories a day, assuming you're doing a normal amount of exercise. (which you certainly are!) There are 3500 calories to a pound. It takes fat to appear or disappear 48 hours. Everyone hits a plateau while dieting, or even gain a pound or two. They'll go away. Keep doing what you're doing, keep your calculator handy, and good luck!I hope I didn't overload you with information! I DO think you can get down to 115 by May. You have a lot of willpower.Keep up the good work! |
