Weight training can certainly help you lose a bit of weight. Muscle uses up more energy than other tissues, so having muscle means your body is always burning off more energy than usual. However, weight training alone isn't enough to help you lose weight quickly. for that you definitely need cardio - like running.

Weight training is good for burning calories. But you need the cardio in order to keep your heart rate up, improving your metabolism, which will help the muscle recovery process after say lifting weights. You should do them both in equal moderation.

Being as I do both (Im skinny though) when I prep for base ball, If I want to lose weights the fastes I hit the bigest muscle groups to sweat... So, you ass and thights are the biggest muscles, do sqauts... Jogging is allways repetative in between weights!

Any cardio work out will make you lose weight. Generally weight training will make you gain more weight because muscle tissue weighs more than fat.

Muscle burns fat, so the more muscle you have the more fat you can burn, however I would suggest balancing your workout. Weights 3-4 times a week and cardio 3-4 times a week. It doesn't have to be running either. Swimming is a great cardio workout.

yes it is possible...in a year or so when you have increased your muscle mass enough to burn anywhere near the calories you would burn from running then maybe yes, but until then running is the fastest way to do it..but remember, when you have all this new muscle, to run to burn even more calories!
