I had heard over the years that they might but I don't recall if so or how. Thanks for the info. For those with legot answers, thanks. Last weight was 379 1-2 months ago.For those thinking it's a "lifestyle" change &"count caolries", it's not that simple. That doesn't always work plus I was exposed to nerve agents in the 1991 Gulf War that literally altered my brain chemistry, including basic functions. So for the people with the "dumb" answers, I ignore stuff like that. For everyone else, thanks. That would be "legit" answers...my wireless keyboard batteries just died a few minutes ago. When it does, keyboards act weird.

I don't think so, not unless it was a case of "If you don't lose 15 stone in the next month then you'll die" scenario. Otherwise people would probably abuse it for a quick fix.

sometimes your insurance will cover it if they consider that you def need it and that your weight is life threatening. a woman at work had a surgery done and insurance covered it.

Hope not too! Most obesity is from avoidable, lifestyle related choices and decisions. The government should scrutinize them to lose weight and take responsibility.BTW I am slightly obese. (Ironic and hypocritical-what a combination!)

Not that I know of. Weight loss surgery is so drastic, have you thought of CALORIE counting?I have been doing that and have lost 8 lbs. It is CHEAPER, and far safer in the long run. NO GUT alterations involved! No fear of future repercussions from Gastric bypass.

Some insurance may pay for it, if it is life threatening. This surgery can cure type 2 diabetes, so check in to it. There is an on going research.Check with your doctor.

I know I am on Disability (Medicare) and it does cover it, but you have to go with a program before it will cover it. The surgeon's office can help you with getting quailified. I only can go with what I know...
