I have been running very regularly for the past four years and doing yoga and pilates for two, and in the last three months or so, I have taken up jump rope as a new form of cardio. I enjoy it and find it challenging, but my parents tell me it's unnatural for humans to jump up and down over and over for long periods of time; they worry I am going to suffer weird effects of it after a while, like pain in my feet or sagging body parts (even wearing two sports bras). Anybody know anything about this?PS: I am at three reps of ten minutes each over one day.

I think jump rope is a great exercise.. It's good for cardio, calves, shoulders and balance/coordination.. If you keep the impact to a minimum - you're not really putting your body in any great harm. The motion is similar to jogging..Keep up the good work!

No....body parts will no "sag." The only ill effects from rope jumping would be in the joints...ankles and knees, and possibly hips. If your joints are strong, jumping rope will NOT weaken them.....however, if you do have joint problems, then I would recommend low impact exercises for cardio.

Its possible to saggin your chest because of the constant weight of them being thrown downward but not at 3 reps of ten minutes a day. The only thing you possibly ahve to worry about is knees and ankles, running and jump rope go hand and hand and that is the best way to lsoe weight and keep it off.

i think that exercises do not have any negative affects on normal people .. but anything that goes further than reasonable amount is surely not good for anyone .. so you just have to work on exercising the reasonable amount of exercises .. ether it was in jump rope or jogging or anything .. so try to be reasonable about everything ..
