Cardio will produce the quickest results & is great for your heart! Yoga & Pilates are more for "scultping"& relaxation of the mind. Sculpting is just making your muscles more firm& tone, after you loose your desired weight.

Cardio would be better for weight LOSS, but pilates works wonders to tone up the body. I would combine all three really...

A combination of yoga and cardio would be the most effective. I have lost 30 pounds in the space of a year doing yoga and only yoga and not even a very past paced type of yoga. And no diets, just sensible eating and portion control. That doesn't mean you'll lose the same, it depends on how much you need to lose before you reach a healthy weight (mind you, super models are underweight and yoga isn't going to take you there). Some people say that only cardio work will burn fat and that is is, while true in itself, not the whole picture for many of us. What puts weight ON a lot of people is stress. Check out this article in the American Journal of Epidemiology: http://aje.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/conten...Stress upsets your hormonal balance so that it will be geared towards fat storage in more than one way. Yoga is a very, very, effective stress reducer and that is why many people end up losing weight even while doing only gentle yoga. Check out these Yoga Journal articles too: http://www.yogajournal.com/health/1694..... http://www.yogajournal.com/health/1933For weight loss I would recommend doing yoga at least 3 times a week and to do a combination of styles: slower, gentler classes with lots of stretching for the stress release and overall feeling of well being and a few harder classes either faster paced or geared towards strength to get in your muscle building and cardio while busting stress (Vinyasa, Power Yoga or Ashtanga). On the days you are not doing yoga you should do cardio. This can be as simple as doing a decent walk. Try to walk at a fairly fast pace (you should be able to talk, but not sing a whole line without breathing in between), and walk for 40 minutes or more. If you're a woman your body won't start burning fat until about 40 minutes into your walk. Every minute you are walking longer than 40 minutes is a minute you will burn fat.Try eating 3 to 5 small meals a day, but only eat when you are hungry (if you're not hungry after 3 to 4 hours, you ate too much), cut down on the night time snacking and make lower fat choices and you should start seeing results soon.
