My 5 yo cat is being terrorized by a 7 mo rascal kitten. 7mo just wants to play, not be mean, but 5yo won't play. He jumps out, pounces & startles her, and even bites her butt so she'll chase him. It's not a game, tho, to 5yo.What if I introduced a 3rd cat, one who's been fostered or sheltered? We would know that this cat gets on with other cats. Would 7mo play with this cat and leave 5yo alone? Do cats really play with each other? Do they become buddies?I've tried all the "get acquainted" exercises, and 7mo is crazy about 5yo, but 5yo won't have it. I feed them tempting food--each gets 1/2 a can--12 inches from each other, to foster good feelings (the food) about each other.Help~!Thanks moni--hadn't thought about 3 cats establishing territory. That would be a mess.7mo belongs to my daughter, who will move out after grad school (2-1/2 yrs from now). I had thought to send 3rd cat with her.

hahaha mine did that too...at first my older cat would just hiss at the baby cat and the baby car still dosent stop. but after a while now they can tolerate one another...they can even sit in the window together sometimes without them bugging each other and when they do fight its only for lik 10 mins hen they both concede from eachother

Be patient. They'll need a couple of months to get used to each other. Introducing a third cat would be foolish and irresponsible. Sooner or later, they'd start marking their territories and then you'd be in a real mess.

A 3rd kitty, just may divert the kitten away from the staunch 5 yr. old.OR both could "gang up" roughhousing him!It really depends on the kitties' personalities and characters.Like people some cats are rambunctuous imps, while other have the serious, standoffish personalities.Gd. luck.

5yo should settle down eventually.7mo might be a little to much for him to put up with. It's like when you get little kids around a dog and a kid gets bit because they are so hyper they scare the dog.
