|
|
| I started a meal diary some time ago, and to my surprise, I regularly eat 500-1000 kcal less than what I burn daily. I am not dieting, this is how I have eaten for years and I don't go hungry. Still, I am not losing weight; on the contrary, I have gained a fair bit in the last 6 months. How is this possible? Even on the days that I do eat more (perhaps once every two weeks), it's hardly ever more than what I burn. My BMI has crept up to 26 or so and I'm quite distressed as I don't know how to bring it down. Should I eat even less? My body fat percentage is also rather high (32%). |

| Dont be alarmed. There is a total misunderstanding when it comes to counting calories as well as counting how many you lose. Understand that it is virtually impossible to determine someones actual calorie loss without scientific machinery as every body varies based on genetics.I always advise my clients not to looka t the monitor that says how many calories they lost on a particular machine but to focus on there bodies response to workout and keep a steady eye on your diet.I would suggest that you increase your fibre intake to help with cleansing decrease foods such as pastas, rice, white bread (substitutes can be made such as wholemeal bread and brown rice) also keep in mind that your metabolism naturally slows as the day progresses so you should be consuming your largest meal in morning and smallest for dinner. try eating 5-6 times p/day to help stimulat the metabolism to work harder in burning the food coming in. keep the portions to fist size, latest meal should be 6-7pm with no snacking or eating afterward.Keep your water intake up 8-10glasses p/day. Also you dont mention any workouts?? not sure if your doing any but i would suggest trying to incorperate a 20min jog (keeping heart rate high) 4 mornings per week and consume a good high protein and fibre brekky such as eggs and wholemeal toast with bran.I have some good recipes for healthy TASTY! food on my blog http://myfitmate.blogspot.com/ feel free to browse as well as workouts.good luck |

| In my experience chances are that you are not estimating something correctly. Many people either overestimate how much their body burns in a given day, or underestimate how many calories they have taken in. If you are certain that this is not your situation, then look to other areas of concern. Keep in mind that as people age they have a tendency to lose muscle mass which in turn lowers base metabolism. This IS NOT part of the normal aging process, but due to people becoming less active as they age the muscle mass is lost over time. You don't mention any type of physical activity. If you are looking for weight loss adding cardio (at least 30 minutes daily) and weight training will add to your dietary efforts. Also, sometimes your body gets confused and if you are taking in TOO FEW calories it thinks you are starving and tries to hold on to every calorie it can. If you have tried these suggestions to no avail, then I suggest you see your MD or a dietitian for further testing or recommendations. Good luck! |

| Whatever you choose make sure it's right for you, and good to your body!Sometimes you can gain muscle which weighs more than fat. Try checking your measurements and see what is going on there. Sometimes we lose inches more, which is a good thing. Look at how you are fitting in your clothes, that will be a good indicator for you. If you are serious about wanting to lose weight and get yourself healthy you can take a look at my profile, what I use is the shapeworks program; it's simple, easy, delicious and nutritious! I can tell you that I really love it and it works well and quick! Also, it's given me some good solid energy!I also like the multi-vitamin from Herbalife and the other supplements I take. I am not trying to solicit anyone, but where I get all my health products are in my profile! I take them personally I am just sharing my experience!I take a number of them but you can look through it yourself and decide what is right for you!Hope this helps! Good Luck to you! I am so proud to hear a your women such as yourself looking into things for you own good health! I wish you all the best! |

| Can you do some of the following1. Walk to work instead of driving.2. Park further from the mall and walk more.3. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.4. Walk during your lunch hours.Doing a little extra each day can make a great difference, it's not just the amount you eat but also the amount of work you put in.I'm not saying you have to get yourself down the gym every day,far from it you can do a great workout from home around 10 mins a day will see the wieght drop off.I remember when I first started in fitness game and didn't really get myself motivated one of my friends( a boxer who managed to train every day) said to me,doing 10 sit ups or 10 push ups is far better than doing none. He was right just doing a little bit at a time made me feel better got my confidence up which made me want to do more and more.So my advice to you is, check your diet first of all, it's not always the amount of kcal but what else is in there i e :what type of fat and how much sugar, you will even put on weight by eating a lot of fruit due to the sugar. If you snack try some nuts or seeds they have a lot of kcal but also contain essential fatty acids, although most people think of peanuts as fattening they are very good for your heart mixed with say some sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds this will give you a great energy boost and then, instead of sitting down to watch your soap tonight go for a 20-30 min walk and get in the habit of doing it every day but most of all don't give up.Hope this is of some help to you http://buildmuscle.easyboost.net/build-muscle-articles/ |
