I understand the difference between the movements of yoga and pilates, but is there any difference in what results you can expect after doing them? I'm talking about physical results - will one make you more flexible, or stronger, or more toned, etc? Trying to decide which one to pursue.

I have done both. Pilates gives you faster results, a more toned body and more burnt calories. Yoga is slower, but it increases your flexibility and helps you to relax (this is good for people who eat in response to stress, for example). Do as i told another answerer. Try both, do Pilates first (as it is a bit easier to do) for a month. Then try yoga and see which is best for you and your needs.

Personally, I prefer Pilates. Yoga offers stretching and meditative relaxation exercises, while Pilates stretches you into fitness and calorie burning endeavors.By the way, I published a short, humorous and somewhat satirical piece on Yoga. You might enjoy reading this. Check the link below, under SOURCES.
