I lost 45kgs over a year ago and have stuck religiously to a mantainence plan. I do 20 min of cardio 5 days a week (bicycle). Recently I have started to gain weight. I still stick to my eating plan (although not as rigidly as when I lost weight) and still exercise? What is up with that? I must admit that my diet and exercise are not very varied but it seems to have worked up until now.Any ideas?I will stick to it - I just don't understand why I am putting on. I'm really not doing anything that should make me gain weight.

Continue to exercise and watch what you eat.

First of all congratulations on taking the weight off. You have now learned that taking it off is only a small part of the challenge. You need to up your time on the bicycle. I am surprised that only 20 minutes 5 days a week has worked for you. I am guessing that you lead a somewhat active life style and have some activity in your life such as walking or climbing stairs that you do not think of as exercise. I am also guessing that you are getting bored with your food plan and with your bicycle. I do not know enough about your eating plan to make suggestions. However, take a look at your options for more exercise. Can you work in more walking?.... Is a swimming pool available? Do you like to dance or play tennis?? Do you have a buddy or partner that wants to improve their fitness. Even a daily game of catch (as with a soft ball) will burn a few more calories and keep the weight down. On the food front... allow your self a healthy splurge now and then. Our bodies were designed to be very conservative... When you consume lower calories for a long period of time ... your body says uh oh there is a famine ... I must conserve energy and fat.... So you need to UP your food intake a little and exercise a lot .... to reset your thermostat/metabolism.

Well "Dr.Vampire" the reason for your weight gain could be because you are gaining muscle mass. After all muscle is much more heavier then fat. Instead of weighing yourself try measuring your waste line. Also changing up the routine could help.
