i am 6'4" and 270lbs and i am fixing to start my workout where i swim for 2 miles a day for 3 months...do you think it is possible for me to lose around 40lbs

Absolutely, as long as you eat healthy, that should be an obtainable goal.

Yes, swimming 2 miles a day will definitely help you lose weight. If you combine that with healthy eating, you can lose 40+ pounds.By healthy eating, I mean 1600-1800 calories of fruits, veggies, skinless chicken breast, fish, oatmeal, egg whites, brown rice, etc. and drink LOTS of waterGood luck

swimming is one of the best exersizes you can do!! just eat heatly and keep motivated and you will reach your goal!!! I have had two knee surgery's and swimming was one of the only ways i could exersize..and i was on my hs swim team..I just love it!!! Good Luck to you!!

oh hell ya! thats cake! swimming is such a full body exercise and with 3 months with 100meters as long as u keep a health diet u got it man!! GL Razz

that is alot to begin!! Start at 1/2 mile? increase 1/2mile every five days. Swimming is probably the safest exercise for everyone and it requires using pretty much all of the muscle groups. Should take no time at all.You might find by the end of 3 mos. that you are swimming more than 2 miles.Swimming also improves bronchial and lung function. It will make you feel super good all over. Swim in the mornings or before noon to get all day energy. You will know what you enjoy most.Lean meats, chicken and fish are great foods. Eat some veggies everyday. You'll be great!! Enjoy to the fullest!!

It should achieve your objective but there is one proviso and that is that you must not increase your calorie intake.
