| I drive a 94 Mercury Topaz, 4 cylinder. Recently my car has been overheating when it idles or sits in gear for more than a min.. Every time I put coolant in it it sucks it all into the reserve tank and does not cycle it back in even after it cools. Is there anyway to fix this problem. How much would it cost to repair the problem? |

| KristiIt appears that the cooling fan is inoperative due either to a failed relay or connection, or the fan motor has failed. It is possible that the thermostat is sticking, or that the coolant temperature sensor for the PCM is either defective or disconnected.Just some things to check out. |

| Good preliminary answers, however, I'd also advise you to check your radiator for proper flow. Lots of cars this old show substantial rust/residue clogging the radiator. So you might want to back flush/clean it good. Great time to ensure the water pumps not shot, too. Check for coolant leaks, bearing noise and excessive endshaft play.Good Luck! |
