| Is yoga a workout, and can it help you tone and/or lose weight? |

| There are many varieties of yoga and each will provide a different kind of workout, so pick the one that fulfills your fitness goals. Ashtanga and "flow" or "power" yogas yield a greater cardio workout. Kripalu and Iyengar and others will be more strength training. Yin and Hatha will be more flexibility training. I am biased but my yoga training is my favorite form of fitness training and I believe yields the best most noticeable physical overall mind/body/spirit results. There is a lot of misconception about yoga the best part of it is that you began at any level of fitness and you "own" your practice to make it as challenging as you want.PS I cross train and do other forms of exercise, but I do so as an adjunct to my yoga training, I am very dedicated and have finally achieved the long lean muscles, balance and flexibility that make me feel and look the best I ever have. |
