| hey I'm sixteen and a bit overweight. I'm 5'4 and 150-160 lbs. I need to loose 30-50 lbs ASAP! any advice?? I'll do almost anything but swim. Last year I went from 185 to 120 in a couple of months due to starvation but don't think I could do that again. I also want to build muscle if best possible.... but The biggest problem is time. any shortcuts??? |

| STARVATION??!?! You are going to kill your body if you do that again. Jog or bike in the morning and eat only non-fatty meats and vegetables and fruits |

| I am dealing with the same issue that you are. I have about the same body type and am trying to lose weight as well. The best thing you can do on your own is to stop eating junk and eat a lot of healthy nutrious food. You need to eat to lose weight. It might sound funny but it is true. This website is great for tracking your calories. www.thedailyplate.com. You will need to eat at least 1200 cals a day. You should be eating 5-6 small meals through out the day. Eat all the veggies you can. If you like to eat and want to fill up eat a bag of veggies. Keep a water bottle with you at all times. You will need to have at least 30 mins of activitiy every day. The goal on activity is to be moving 60 mins a day 5 or more days a week. It's all about balancing nutrition with exercise. Good luck and don't do the eating disorder thing. It will stay with you for a really long time. |

| Drink a lot of water.Take half portions of what you normally take and get outside and walk or just do something active.I don't think there are many "shortcuts" to losing weight. Don't starve yourself. Once you start eating again, your body will remember that you hadn't eaten in a while and you will gain the weight back fast. |

| Sorry, there are no short cuts. It sounds like you have some motivation to loose the weight but realistically you can safely loose 5-6 lbs per month. Rather than focus on pounds I would look at your body fat especially since you would like to add some lean muscle mass.Hopefully you have the support of your parents.. Ask them for help. Look for a qualified trainer in your area that can help you with a nutrition and exercise program. I compete in bodybuilding and know more than most do about their body and nutrition but I still use a trainer.. Take control now.. At 16 your body can still rebound. If you delay even a few years it will only get more difficult to loose.I hope that helps,TW |
