My friend doesn't have an account - this is her question thank you! :Hey guys! I am 13 years old I am 5 foot 5 inches and weigh 90 pounds. I know that this is underweight. But I eat A LOT more than all of my friends. At lunch I have like 3 sandwiches and more while they have around 1/2 a sandwich. I don't excercise on a regular basis or anything just the usual - i'm not lazy either. I am on a swim team but we are off for winter. Is this healthy/normal? Just checking...thanksmy friend is a girl lol

Your friend is not underweight at all. I've seen boys your age at 90 pounds or less. It is completely healthy, but aren't you glad that you aren't 50 pounds? Anyways, the reason why you eat mroe then other, but you weigh normally is because your body is not absorbing allt he carbohydrates. And that's not a bad thing. You can change this by eatting for vitamin C.

I had trouble gaining weight too, when I was that age, until I was about 25. I did get checked for juvenile diabetes, just to make sure everything was ok. I would suggest the same thing! Some people are naturally skinny although by the time you are about 30, things change hahaha. Now I can't eat whatever i want but that's ok! I work out and walk everywhere so I don't gain too much weight!Cheers!

your metabolism and other vital functions that can help determine your weight are unique to you. as long as you are getting a balanced amount of nutrients and you're not eating JUST lunch, then your weight and height are perfectly normal. Just because the rest of the world is overweight doesn't mean you have to be.
