Last year when I started to swim again. (since childhood)I just started with the kickboard so I could build up leg strength until I could go with my arms. With my arms. Because I am a women I placed a float noodle under my breasts to keep me up. Then I pushed myself with my arms.Gradually I started to use my arms & legs together as a full swim.

Laps back and forth is one of the best ways, it will work all lof your muscles and you will gain endurance. Going to the deep end and kicking your legs to stay afloat works great also. Getting some leg weights can help with resistance in the shallow end. Doing breath exercises - holding your breath under water while calm can help with endurance.

I love swimming! I've been told that you should vary your speed instead of going steadily along for a mile. If you swim a couple laps as fast as you can, then a couple at a comfortable rate, and keep alternating, that is supposed to be a better workout. Some people will use a kickboard and do several laps working just their legs. Some also like to use those strap on fin things for your hands. If you go to a pool during the designated lap swim time, there will probably be some others in there with the fins, etc. You could discuss it with them. They'll surely have some pointers.

First of all do not eat anything that contains lots of sugar in it. eat a lot of veggies and drink some v-8 juice .drink lots of water. dont go jogging or running because wheather people know it or not that kind of exercising puts a lot of stress on your feet ankles and not to mention your back...try riding a bike ,swimming is excellent for the musle toning.

Nothing better than the actual action of swimming. Do both front crawl and breath stroke. Work up to doing a full hour without any breather breaks. After 6 months of doing that 2 or 3 times a week, consider using a gym as well.

::Floating for 15 minutes. It helps you with the abs and posture - really!::The froggy : o mostly continuous laps instead of stopping in between. Just remember not to go overboard because you might have cramps |
