I had a problem like yours. I was in shape, but I was getting unusually tired and sleeping through class. A blood test confirmed I had anemia. I felt better than I had in a long time after taking iron supplements. However, there are many reasons for being very tired including an underactive thyroid, mono, etc so you should see a doctor.

Hi,There are a lot of things that can make you feel like this. As I was reading your question, a few thing immediately came to mind (I am a paramedic, and am used to spending a lot of time with patients getting thorough histories while en route to the hospital as we had a long transport time).1. Are you on ANY medications---over the counter or prescribed? particularly ALLERGY medication or birth control pills? (allergy medications EVEN the NON-DROWSY ones are known to make you feel REALLY TIRED and like your muscles are made of lead. I used to have this same problem with zyrtec and claritan) the birth control pills can affect your hormones making you feel tired2. When do you have track/track practice vs when do you eat lunch? I have seen lunch period here as early as 10 am, and kids are not allowed to have any food/water with them during school, yet, track/sports will be right after or 2 hours after school....which is a long time for lunch to take care of the body.3. The mono---which people mentioned, is a good one. I had mono twice--full blown each time, and I DIDN'T FEEL that sick each time, but, MAN was I tired!! I would get up, and after about 2 hours, I was ready for a nap....and, it took about 3 months for me to feel better.4. Anemia---again, which people mentioned. I had it, and mine wasn't even reading THAT severe....I was JUST beginning to be where I was too low to donate blood, but, was just at the beginning of the "anemic" line on the blood count results. I was tired then too, and my muscles felt like lead, but, none of the other specific signs or symptoms were there.5. Hypothyroidism---again, mentioned, and again, blood work. My sister and mom has it, I do not. It took them a few years to find my sister's as she has it, but, her levels were not dramatically low (yet), while my mom's were VERY LOW. Also, I think doc's NEED to be looking to find it when it is in the early stage like that.6. 15 isn't 13, but, still, you SHOULD be able to run as well or better than you did at 13, BUT, you WILL NEED MORE FUEL....your body has probably changed a bit, grown taller, more muscles, which require more fuel for the same amount of energy used. If you do not adjust your diet, (which was mentioned), you won't have the energy....however, since you have been running track for years, I have a feeling you know how to eat.7. Vitamin A & D deficiency. It is dark earlier, and colder.....so, if you are not getting enough of these vitamins, which usually you NEED some exposure to the sun to help with the conversion/absorbtion of them in the body, you will have problems with lethargy as well.....not to be confused with Seasonal Affected Disorder---not saying that at all. This is a vitamin deficiency. Drinking store bought milk (since it usually has A & D added) helps, but, again, need some exposure to natural sunlight.I would talk to your parents, let them know how you are feeling, see if any of the above helps, and perhaps also schedule an appointment soon with your doctor to make sure your blood levels are ok, and hopefully, you will be back to running circles around yourself in no time.Good luck!!
