everyone says jogging is the only way to get skinny legs and anything else will just build them up and give you "thunder thighs" is this really true?? they say jogging slow will burn fat and you wont use your actual muscles while running.

Its depends on a lot of factors. If you are short then running will give you bulk. If you want to get skinny legs then you have to do something that elongates the muscles like Pilates or try swimming.

Lerrgh... where are you hearing this?Jogging is cardio, which strengthens your heart muscles and causes you to lose weight. However, because of the constant motion and whatnot, it does build a lot of muscle in your thighs and calves.

The only way to move is to use muscles obv... but the only way to burn fat is to do slow long exercises like jogging, and if you go slow you wont build your muscles much.

If you want toned legs, then jogging is the way to go. It's different on every person, and it depends on how you want to look in the long run. I refuse to run very often just because I have very muscular legs, and I don't want them to be so defined that I look like a man. I know that running is supposed to help with slimming down your body as a whole. It burns tons of calories.

Nope jogging is a weight bearing exercise...any muscle that is being used with weights will build bulk if you want a lean look for your legs you need to do something that involves alot of stretching instead of just contracting of that particular muscle. Try things like yoga, pilates, and swimming.

If you are not a professional athlete and you are "dabbing" in jogging and other physical activity NOTHING will make a significant difference in your proportions - they will remain the same and as you burn calories and loose weight it will come off evenly from all parts of your body.WHEN you start training "seriously" and you have some muscles to talk about THEN you should start worrying about "working" some parts harder then others. True: slower repetition builds muscle bulk; fast repetitions "dry" the muscle. One of my past coaches was a weight lifter and had huge muscles on her thighs. It took her a long time and a lot of hard work to get rid of those muscles. Fat is much easier to get rid of.

well everyone is wrong. i know this because i am a certified personal trainer. there is more than just one way to achieve slender legs but you have to remember that everyone's body responds slightly differently to different exercises so its really a matter of playing around with a combination of things to see what works best for you. to get skinny legs you must lower your total body fat percentage by doing any kind of cardio in combination with total body weight training and a good nutritional plan. there really is no such thing as "spot training" which is exactly what your asking about. you can't just tell your body where to lose fat by doing one kind of exercise. when you lower your body fat levels you lose it from everywhere. to lower body fat levels you want to do exercises that are high intensity and burn off a lot of calories. don't concern yourself with the "fat burning zone" or fat burning in general. the basic premise of weight loss is that you are expending more calories than you are taking in. so as long as you do this you will attain slimmer legs/thighs.

There is no easy answer to your question Ella, nor is there an exact answer. The type of exercise you do is only part of the equation. Other parts include:1. Hereditary predisposition2. Diet & calorie intake3. Daily routine4. Probably othersRegardless of the other factors that are involved and about which you can do NOTHING, I'll answer your questions now.MaybeDon't knowJogging/walking/running are the only exercises I know of that will certainly give you a SLIMMER LOOK if done regularly. Part of this is not because you won't develop muscles, but that you will lose some body fat. Certainly, the muscles will also elongate (as opposed to shrinking when anerobic exercises are done). So if your objective is slimmer thighs and thinner shaplier legs, then jog.Good Luck
