I think you are required to take 10,000 steps a day to maintain a weight. therefore, to lose weight, i guess you'd have to take more than that many steps.

However many it takes to reach your target heartrate, and keep it there about 30 mins. You want to keep it about 60%-80% of your maximum heart rate, which is: 220 - your age. So at 15 you want to keep your heart rate around 123-164. Every once in awhile during your walk just count your pulse for 10 seconds and multiply that by 6.Just remember walking by itself won't do it, include a healthy diet. Never skip meals or leave out any food group.
