You can do wonders with an exercise bike and dumbbells. If you dedicate at least 20-40 minutes a day on the bike, you will see results in just a few weeks. That is if you are eating right. Dumbbells are great, but you have to do a lot of repetitions in order to reach muscle fatigue. Going to any fitness website will provide you with many different types of workouts with dumbbells. You have the equipment you need to get in shape...may not be your ideal, but if you have the motivation, you can do anything. Good luck.

If that's all you've got and you can't possibly get a treadmill (I got a really nice one...$1600 when it was brand new, got it used for $200 on craigslist.org) then just use the bike while u curl weights. This will help build balance and will turn the simple bike exercise into a full cardio workout. Studies show that to lose weight and tone up the fastest as well as being healthiest is to pair cardio exercises (anything that gets your heart rate up for 30 minutes straight) with weight lifting is the best. When the weather clears up, power walk outside while curling weights. At home, you can do situps, pushups, and squats to build more muscle - lots of girls think that lifting heavier weights is only for guys because they don't want to get bulky with muscle, but actually, it tones up your muscles so that your fat melts off first. There's plenty of other things you can do, too - yoga, pilates, aerobics, jumping jacks..try them all out and see which one's the most fun for you!For best results, you also have to watch your diet - drink lots of water: it increases your metabolism and helps you feel full so drink as much as you can BEFORE you eat. Count calories too and set a goal for each day that you can't go over.Best of luck to you!! Remember to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week!

You have more than enough to get you started. All it takes for cardio is to get your heartrate up, your bike should be more than adequate. Check out sites like fitness.com to get a plan together. Just remember the exercise is only half the battle - if you want results you must add in a healthy diet. Heartrate is the key, you need to work - not just sit on the bike for 20 mins on the lowest setting while watching TV. You need to breath hard, you need to sweat, you need to do as much of the time as possible at your target heartrate. Good luck.

Unfortunately this is not really enough equipment to lose weight. You will at first lose weight, but in the long term you will be losing fatty weight and gaining muscle weight so phsyically staying the same.If you absolutely can not afford to go to the gym or join any weight losing programs than try having your own fitness work out program at home.Start with stretches then maybe do 10 laps of the stairs.Follow with 25 each of push ups and situpsEnd with a 1/2 hour dance workout and some cool down stretches e.g yoga.Do this every week day and double it at weekends and you will be fit as a fiddle in no time. Remember you must eat a healthy balanced diet ( recommened for females of your age would be 2000 kilocalories max.)This diet worked wonders for me however ... talk to your GP about it just to make sure it won't cause any strain on your heart or anything ... Good Luck!

It is okay to use your bike and weights to tone up.However, I have never had any luck taking off pounds while using only an exercise bike. There may be people who have but none that I know personally. When you can not get outside to walk ... there are options. This time of year I plan what I call shopping walks. For example: when I need grocery etc., I get my shopping cart and load in some heavy non perishable items. Then I walk the whole store for about 30 minutes ... then I do my actual shopping. You can also walk at the mall.On days when you can't get to the mall etc. Move to the music. If you are a good dancer, great. If not it is fine just to move in cadence with peppy music. On days when I am house bound I keep track of the number of "tunes" I have moved to.Each song lasts about 3 minutes... so you need to exercises/ dance to a minimum of 10 songs.... add more when possible. These do not need to be done all at once you can space them through the day.have fun
