| You cannot spot reduce. When you diet, fat leaves your body in genetically predetermined patterns. When you eat excess calories you will gain fat in genetically predetermined patterns. Building muscle in your thighs and calves will give a shapelier, less fatty appearance. The best exercises for thighs are squats or lunges and the best exercises for calves are calf raises with a chair. |

| Excersize. But make sure you know what each type of excersize does to your leg MUSCLES, as well as getting rid of fat. e.g. some excersizes give you bulky leg muscles, turning your legs into massive tree stumps! It is a shame that you don't have time to do sustained activities such as bicycling/ walking etc, because they are the key to slimmer legs. Sustained activities such as walking, jogging and bike riding are aerobic activities that recruit slow-twitch muscle. Slow-twitch fibers do not grow in size, therefore you'll be losing fat from your legs, and at the same time you won't have to worry about your legs bulking up with muscle.Having little time to excersize might lead you into doing activites that recruit FAST-twitch muscles. These are the opposite to slow twitch muscles. These fast twitch muscles make your legs bulk up, and they work with activities that require little time (which is the amount of time you have to excerise, I'm presuming?). e.g. intense squats, sprinting etc. |
