I've been doing it since school started.. so back in late September and my legs have just got bigger ? My calves are really big it's hard to put boots on, I'm not overweight but I was hoping it would make my calves and thighs a bit thinner?

Yup eating right and walking will help you to lose body fat (thinner legs) and tone your legs and butt... But you have to do both. Watch your calories as well as walk. It won't do much good if you burn off a few hundred calories walking then go home and eat an extra large pizza with everything on it right? Good luck

Exercise increases the muscle mass of those muscles you're exercising.***Added in Edit ***If you have an exercise plan you can live with, stick with it. Well-toned muscles are ALWAYS more attractive than simply being skinny. No exceptions. At least until it becomes grotesque with pulsing veins on the outside of your muscles, but walking 6 miles a day won't do that. The stereotype of 'beauty' foisted on us by the media and advertising is a false one, and if followed too far can be harmful to your health.Besides, the health benefits of regular exercise are enormous.

It sounds like instead of toning down you've built up muscle. I would suggest cutting back on the mileage you walk. A couple miles a day should keep you fit. If you like to exercise I would suggest aerobics, it doesn't bulk you up unless you use weights.

Walking works the muscles in your legs and therefore makes them bigger.
