I have been dieting for 2 days and been swimming twice and have lost 6lbs already. Is this normal? No I am eating healthily, just not eating junk food since I came back from uni, eating balanced home made dinners my mummy makes lol! And surely if I drink a lot of water it can't be weight lost in water if I am replacing it!? I was 9st and now i'm 8st8, height is 5ft6. Before I went to uni I was about 8st4 for a long time, but gained from eating only the junk I could afford (e.g. 8p noodles from somerfield, beans on toast, cheese on toast, fried egg on toast, just toast when there is nothing else! Cheap pizza from sainsburys, oven chips... but I did eat veg too! But drank a lot of alcohol haha well it is expected!) I am just glad to be losing, just worried it may have been too sudden. I was never fat, just had a bit of spare fat around my belly, butt, thighs and arms. Don't look as athletic as I used to, so i'm trying to get back to that. Don't want to be a fatty first year! Thanks for all your support and I am pleased you are all advising me to eat healthily and not starve myself! Smile

it's probably a safe bet that you drastically reduced your caloric intake and carb intake, you are losing water weight. if that is indeed the case then yes, it's normal.

Just so long as it's a healthy diet and you have enough protein and water you should be doing fine.

I can promise you that you haven't lost 6 pounds of fat, but losing 6 pounds is possible. You probably weighed yourself during a time of day when you were heaviest (or heavier than normal), and than you weighed yourself when you were lighter. This is possible even if it was at the same time of day that you weighed yourself. Also, weight comes off easily in the beginning. But regardless of this all, CONGRATULATIONS, not only on your weight loss but on that fact that you have decided to eat healthy and exercise, it is a big step, but you can do it! Good luck with everything!

Not completely, but if you were very heavy to begin with drastic changes in diet/exercise will result in drastic changes in weight loss. Be careful though, most likely when you loose it that fast, you have made too big of a change and will PROBABLY gain everything back.

i don't think it is and did u ever know the faster u loose weight the faster u gain it back so its better to loose weight slower soo it will take a long time to gain it back, i think u lost that much maybe because if ur eating too little calories, when u diet it doesn't mean u just starve yourself and barely anything it means u should eat healthy and just the healthy portion......hope this helps and don't forget the faster u loose the faster u gain and the slower u loose the slower u gain
