The elliptical is a great piece of cardio equipment.Depending on your current exercise level and abilities most people do a cardio workout 3-5 times a week for 20-40 minutes each session.Your weight loss would depend if you are burning more calories then you are consuming.

That's like asking how far you can walk in a new pair of shoes. There is no answer because it depends on three things. The first is how much you weigh. A heavier person requires more energy to move themselves than a lighter person. So when I'm on the elliptical machine and I'm burning 25 calories a minute, the person next to me that weighs half as much as I do is burning less while at the same intensity. It means I need to work harder to keep that level of intensity than she does. The second is how intense you go. Do you put it on the lowest level, or the highest? Do you sprint through it or do you take a leisurely route? These factors need to be taken into effect. And finally how long you spend on the machine is needed. If you work out for only 20 minutes, you'll burn less than the person that works out for 60 minutes.

30 minutes of exercises a day is what is recommended for health.I can't say how much weight you will loose.Exercise and diet are the key factors in weight reduction.
