| I am right on the line between healthy and overweight. I used to be 20 pounds slimmer up until 8 months ago. I believe the weight gain is mostly due to stress and lack of a good workout routine... since I used to run 1-2 miles everyday. My dad says that waking up "late" in the morning is the main reason why, because he and my brother eat the same healthy food I do and they don't gain a pound. However I wake up at 8 am... he is forcing me to wake up at 6 am whenever I come home for break. It's not like I wake up at noon or anything, and I need my 8 hours of sleep to function. I am not able to fall asleep at 10 pm in order to get my required 8 hours. My sleeping habits are much better than the average college student. Am I right in saying the number one thing right now that I need to do is get back to a good workout routine? Is there really any correlation between waking up "late" and weight gain? I have NEVER heard such a thing. |

| I don't think there is a correlation b/w waking up late, unless you are exceeding 7-8 hours of sleep per night. |

| Then looking at my weight, I must have been waking up late for years. |

| I saw somewhere in a chart that sleeping 6-8 hours a day is where a person is more efficient in their day and that a person who goes to sleep earlier rather than later is better at maintaining their weight, I think it was men's fitness or similar magazine. Also drinking plenty of water helps in weight loss. Also, someone once told me that men tend to have more muscles than women and as a result they won't have much trouble gaining weight in comparison to women as they age. It had to do with metabolism and getting older. |
